The fragrant, delicate, and rare Kashmiri Saffron is the world's most expensive spice. It is grown and cultivated in the Pampore area of Kashmir Valley. This variety of Saffron is called Mogra and it is the finest quality of Saffron available.
Saffron has a sweet, floral taste to it. It is earthy and has a complex flavor. It is used primarily for seasoning and coloring agent in food.
Saffron is also used in other traditional remedies for sleep problems (insomnia), cancer, intestinal gas (flatulence), depression, Alzheimer's disease, fright, shock, pain, heartburn, and dry skin. Women use saffron for menstrual cramps and premenstrual syndrome (PMS).
